Codex CLI 0.158.0 adds configuration for copy-on-select and right-click paste in the fullscreen TUI. Transcript selections copied from the interface now preserve Markdown formatting.
These changes are relevant if you use the terminal interface to move assistant output into another editor or document: copied selections retain formatting rather than only plain text.

MCP authentication and image requests
The release supports connections to MCP servers that require pre-registered OAuth client secrets, including through the `codex mcp add --oauth-client-secret` command.
Image generation and editing requests can explicitly ask for transparent backgrounds. Image edits can also use file-backed images already present in the conversation.
