It scans your home directory for Claude config directories beside the primary one. `~/.claude` is always account one, even if it does not exist yet, and anything matching `~/.claude-*` is picked up as an additional account when it contains a `projects/` directory or a credentials file. So pointing a second login at `~/.claude-work` is the whole setup. That filter is deliberate, so unrelated dotfile directories are never mistaken for an account.
There is no fixed limit. Every directory matching the pattern becomes an account, so if you keep four Claude logins on one Mac you see four sets of limits. The practical ceiling is how many rows you want in the popover, not a number enforced by the app.
No, and that is the point. Each account has its own session window, its own weekly cap and its own reset time, tracked separately. Burning through your work five-hour window does not touch what is left on the personal one.
