The panel above is Anthropic’s own reading of Claude, taken from status.claude.com, not a measurement of ours. When Claude Code and claude.ai show as operational and Claude still stops you, the usual cause is one of your own usage limits.

Outage, or your own limit?

Anthropic documents two limits on paid Claude plans: a five-hour session limit and a separate weekly usage limit (Anthropic’s usage limit guide). Hitting either one feels exactly like an outage: Claude simply stops. The difference is in the message. A limit names itself and tells you when it resets. An outage shows errors, timeouts or “overloaded” responses with no reset time, and the panel above turns amber or red.

To check your limits, open Settings > Usage on claude.ai, or run /usage inside Claude Code. If the panel above is clean and a usage bar is full, you are waiting for a reset, not a fix. Is Claude down right now?
The live panel at the top of this page shows Anthropic's own status for Claude Code, claude.ai, the Claude API and the Claude Console, read from status.claude.com and refreshed every minute. If everything there is operational and Claude still refuses to work, the likeliest cause is one of your own usage limits rather than an outage.
Is Claude Code down, or is it just me?
Claude Code has its own component on Anthropic's status page, listed first in the panel above. If it shows as operational, run /usage inside Claude Code or open Settings > Usage on claude.ai: a full session or weekly bar means you are waiting for a reset, not a fix.
Why does Claude say I have reached my limit when nothing is down?
Anthropic documents two limits on paid Claude plans: a five-hour session limit and a separate weekly usage limit. Either one stops you on its own, and the weekly one can be used up by earlier days in the week. Anthropic's docs also note that weekly limits can reset on a separate schedule for Opus than for other models.
