What smart reports are and which plans get them
A Claude Help Center article published October 28, 2026 explains smart reports, an analytics feature for Claude Enterprise. A report looks at how a team uses Claude and covers four things: the work getting done, what it costs at list price, where sessions run into friction, and which repeated patterns could become shared skills.
Smart reports are available on Claude Enterprise plans and are off by default. A Primary Owner or Owner turns them on with the Smart reports toggle. It is in the Analytics section of the Capabilities page in Organization settings. Some organizations cannot use smart reports: those with customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), a HIPAA configuration, or a hybrid deployment that runs inference on their own cloud provider. If an organization uses zero data retention for Claude Code, reports cover chat and Claude Cowork and leave out Claude Code.

What a report shows about spend
Reports can be created by a Primary Owner, Owner, Admin or a custom role with analytics view access. They choose a team, a time range of up to the last 28 days, and the products to cover: chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or the unified chat and Cowork experience. Claude then reads a sample of transcripts, groups them into workstreams and output types, and attaches spend to each group.
Each report includes these sections: Workstreams, by sessions and by spend; cost per session by type of output; Most expensive sessions; and Inefficiencies, which counts sessions that produced nothing usable or were personal or off-topic, with their cost. Clicking a workstream opens its sessions ranked by cost. A report can be limited to an RBAC group, or to a department or cost center sent from the identity provider through SCIM.

What it means for spend limits and your bill
The help article says report costs are shown at list price. It does not say whether these figures match an organization's contracted rates.
The Recommendations section also lists people whose work is being held back by their spend limit. A viewer with billing permission who is using the report's attributed view can raise those people's spend limit directly from the report.

The 10-report monthly limit and when it resets
Each organization can run up to 10 reports per month at no charge. Reports that are queued or in progress count toward the limit, but failed reports do not. Once an organization reaches the limit, it cannot create new reports.
The smart reports page shows the date the limit resets, which is the first day of the next calendar month. The help article gives no price for extra reports. It says to contact your account team if you need more before the reset.

How to run a report and who sees names
To create a report, open the Smart reports page under Analytics and click New report. Reports usually take a few hours to generate and can take longer at busy times. You get an email when the report is ready.
The Allow attribution to individual users toggle is off by default. When it is on, viewers can reveal member names and session IDs, and each reveal is logged. The help article says smart reports should not be used for evaluating individual performance or making employment decisions.
