Cursor Pro vs Pro+ vs Ultra
Pro ($20 a month) fits Tab and occasional Agent use. Pro+ ($60) has three times Pro's Agent limits and is Cursor's pick for daily agent users. Ultra ($200) has twenty times, for agent power users. Past the included usage every plan bills on-demand at API rates. Cursor does not publish the included amount in dollars, so your own Spending tab is what decides between them.
Checked October 2026 against cursor.com/pricing, Cursor's pricing docs and its usage help · By Soren Starck
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Agent limits | Cursor's pitch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | $20 a month | $16 a month | Extended limits on Agent | For the agent-curious |
| Pro+ | $60 a month | $48 a month | 3x Pro’s Agent limits | For the daily builder; Cursor recommends it for daily agent users |
| Ultra | $200 a month | $160 a month | 20x Pro’s Agent limits | For agent power users; priority access to new features |
| Teams Standard | $40 per user a month | $32 per user a month | Not stated as a multiple | Central billing, SSO and usage analytics for teams |
| Teams Premium | $120 per user a month | $96 per user a month | 5x Standard’s Agent limits | For teams that need more Agent headroom |
Pro, Pro+ and Ultra all include unlimited Tab completions and two usage pools that reset with your monthly billing cycle and do not roll over. After the included usage: on-demand at the same API rates, billed in arrears, or upgrade. Hobby (free) and Enterprise are in Cursor pricing.
On Windows? Cursor usage on Windows: spend and remaining usage in the Windows 10 and 11 taskbar.
What every plan includes
Pro, Pro+ and Ultra share the same structure; the multiple is the difference. Each has two pools of included usage:
- Cursor models (Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5), with what Cursor calls significantly more included usage.
- Other models (Claude, GPT, Gemini and the rest), charged against your allowance at each model's API price. Claude Opus 5.5 is $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output; Composer 2.5 is $0.50 and $2.50.
So the plan you need depends on the models you pick as much as on how much you work. A month of Agent on a frontier model and the same month on Composer draw very different amounts from the same allowance.
What the multiples mean in dollars
Pro+ costs three times Pro and has three times Pro's Agent limits: the same included Agent usage per dollar. Ultra costs ten times Pro and has twenty times the limits: twice as much per dollar. Cursor does not say what Pro's allowance is worth, but taking its multiples at face value gives three break-even rules you can check against your bill:
- Pro to Pro+: worth it when your on-demand charges on Pro regularly pass $40 a month, the price difference, and your usage would fit in three times Pro's allowance.
- Pro+ to Ultra: worth it when on-demand charges on Pro+ regularly pass $140 a month and your usage fits in twenty times Pro's allowance.
- Pro straight to Ultra: worth it when on-demand charges on Pro regularly pass $180 a month, with the same condition.
Cursor's own guide to how much usage people need points the same way:
| How you use Cursor | Cursor's estimate |
|---|---|
| Daily Tab users | Typically stay within included usage |
| Limited Agent users | Often stay within included usage |
| Daily Agent users | Typically $60 to $100 a month of total usage |
| Power users (multiple agents, automation) | Often $200 or more a month of total usage |
Daily Agent use at $60 to $100 lines up with Pro+, and power use at $200 or more with Ultra. These are Cursor's ranges from its pricing docs, not measurements of yours.
Overage, and the Spending tab
Running out does not slow Cursor down: it says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed. You either turn on on-demand usage, billed monthly in arrears at the same API rates, or upgrade. That is why the plan question is a money question, and why the Spending tab of your dashboard is where it gets answered. Cursor's usage help describes it as real-time usage for both pools, your remaining allowance, any on-demand charges, and the date your usage resets. Step-by-step: how to check Cursor usage.
How to decide with your own numbers
- Use one full billing cycle on your current plan. Usage resets monthly, so a partial month misleads.
- Note the day the included usage ran out, if it did. Gone by day ten on Pro means you would have needed about three times the allowance: a Pro+ pattern.
- Add up the on-demand charges and compare them with the break-even rules above.
- Check which pool you drew from. If most of it is Other models, moving routine work to Composer or Grok can be cheaper than any upgrade.
The Spending tab answers all four, when you open it. SessionWatcher keeps the same numbers in your Mac menu bar or Windows taskbar while you work: spend, remaining budget, your pace through the cycle and the reset date, with a 7-day history, a model breakdown and alerts at 70% and 90% by default. The trial is free for 7 days with no card, long enough to see whether your pace on Pro ends the month early.

Frequently asked questions
Which Cursor plan should I get: Pro, Pro+ or Ultra?
Pro ($20 a month) if you mostly use Tab and run Agent now and then. Pro+ ($60) if you run Agent every day: it has three times Pro’s Agent limits and is the plan Cursor recommends for daily agent users. Ultra ($200) if you run several agents or automations all day: it has twenty times Pro’s Agent limits. The Spending tab after one billing cycle on Pro tells you which of the three your usage looks like.
What is the difference between Cursor Pro and Pro+?
Pro+ costs three times as much as Pro and has three times Pro’s Agent limits, so the included Agent usage per dollar is the same. What you buy is prepaid headroom: on Pro, usage beyond the included amount is billed on-demand at API rates. If your on-demand charges on Pro regularly pass $40 a month and your usage would fit in three times Pro’s allowance, Pro+ costs less.
Is Cursor Ultra worth it?
For heavy agent use it is the best value per dollar of the three: ten times Pro’s price for twenty times Pro’s Agent limits. It pays off over Pro+ once your on-demand charges on Pro+ regularly pass $140 a month, as long as your usage fits in Ultra’s allowance. Cursor says power users running multiple agents or automation often use $200 or more a month.
What happens when I run out of included usage in Cursor?
Cursor notifies you in the editor. You can turn on on-demand usage, billed monthly in arrears at the same API rates as the included usage, or upgrade. Cursor says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed, so running out costs money rather than speed.
Where do I see my Cursor usage now?
On the Spending tab of the Cursor dashboard (cursor.com/dashboard/spending). It shows real-time usage for both pools, your remaining allowance, any on-demand charges and the date your usage resets. Usage resets monthly with your billing cycle and does not roll over.
Is Cursor cheaper billed yearly?
Yes. Billed yearly, Pro is $16 a month, Pro+ $48 and Ultra $160, against $20, $60 and $200 billed monthly. Teams Standard is $32 per user a month yearly and Premium $96.
