SessionWatcher vs Usagebar
Both are paid, one-time, and live in the macOS menu bar. Usagebar is $9 and tracks Claude Code, including model-aware advice about when to drop from Opus to Sonnet. SessionWatcher is $6.99 for one tool or $59 for all 17 providers in a single readout. For Claude Code alone the two are close, and Usagebar has a model-switching feature we do not match. What Usagebar is
A macOS menu bar app for Claude Code users on Pro or Max. Its site lists real-time percentages for the rolling 5-hour and weekly windows, countdown timers to each reset, notifications at 50%, 75% and 90% plus low-context warnings, and model-aware recommendations about switching between Sonnet, Haiku and Opus based on what is left. It authenticates through your existing Claude Code credentials in the Keychain, so there is no API key to paste. It is $9 one-time with lifetime updates, and a free tier exists.
The model-switching advice is the interesting part, and it is not something SessionWatcher does. If that is the feature you came for, this is the honest recommendation.

The verdict
For Claude Code on its own these are close, and Usagebar has a feature we do not. We are cheaper for a single tool, $6.99 against $9, but that alone is not a reason to switch. The real question is how many AI tools you run. At one, buy whichever you prefer. At three or more, paying once for 17 providers is the cheaper and quieter answer.

Coverage. Usagebar tracks Claude Code. SessionWatcher tracks 17 providers in one menu bar. Our single-tool licence is $6.99, so for Claude alone we are slightly cheaper, but the real case for $59 Pro only exists if you use several tools.
Does either need an API key?
Neither. Usagebar states it authenticates through your existing Claude Code credentials in the macOS Keychain with no API key to paste. SessionWatcher reads the credentials the CLI has already stored on your Mac the same way.
What does Usagebar do that SessionWatcher does not?
Its site describes model-aware recommendations, suggesting when to switch between Sonnet, Haiku and Opus based on what you have left, plus low-context warnings. SessionWatcher does not do that. If it is the feature you want, buy Usagebar.
